INSTALLING A NEW BASIN

August 1 2010

Tools Needed

Basins are straight forward to change. Simply follow our three easy steps below.

Step One

Turn off the water supply to the basin. This is done by turning the isolation valves. Or simply turn the main water supply off that runs into the house or flat. See diagram

Step Two

Disconnect the two pipes which are connected to the taps, simply by unscrewing them with a spanner see diagram

Step Three

Disconnect the waste pipe from the basin; this is achieved by simply unscrewing the trap.

Now that all the main parts of the basin have been disconnected, unscrew the final two screws holding the basin up with a screw driver.

With a knife try to slice through the silicone that is in between the tiles and the basin and lift the basin off the pedestal.

Remove the pedestal and clean as much silicon off the tiles as possible. This will help the new silicone to stick easier when replacing the new basin.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE A NEW BASIN

Balance the basin on its back, push the top of the waste assembly (the plughole) through the waste hole and screw the bottom assembly to the waste fitting, remembering to put all the necessary washers on and also to place a ring of silicone on the top and bottom of the washer to ensure it is extra water tight.

If you have a pop up waste system make sure when screwing the bottom on it is pointing towards the wall.

TIME TO PUT THE TAP TOGETHER

Insert the new tap into the top of the basin and screw the black plastic nut on the other side with a box spanner as shown

Screw your flexi pipe or copper tap connectors into the tap tails as shown and tighten with a spanner.

Now this has been completed, its time to fit your new basin and pedestal

Step One

First place your new pedestal in replace of the old one and screw into place

Step Two

Place your new basin on top of the pedestal and secure into place by placing silicone behind the back of the basin and onto the tiles and screwing into place.

Step Three

Connect your waste pipe up with the new plug hole by screwing the nut up to the plug hole, now tighten.

Step Four

Connect the hot and cold water to your supply by connecting the two nuts to your isolation valves with a spanner and slip joint pliers using two hands hold one nut with your spanner and one with your slip joint pliers and tighten.

Step Five

Turn your water supply back on and test for any leaks
